More than 700 candidates took advantage of a free jobs fair in Torquay’s Town Hall Assembly Rooms.

South Devon employers who are actively recruiting exhibited at the event, with over 460 jobs on offer from 67 employers.

Employers saw 700 candidates throughout the day with high levels of interest shown in vacancies with many applications received and more to be expected.

A high standard of candidates and CVs led to many people being invited to interviews, and a diverse range of people attended, from the unemployed to people in work looking for a change of profession or route to progress their career in a chosen field.

A number of people spoke to recruiters about the potential to up-skill, and local organisations took the opportunity to engage with motivated and enthusiastic local people.

A staggered entry system meant it was constantly busy while giving recruiters and job seekers a chance to speak to everyone.

The event created exposure for local companies that they would not have had recruiting independently and provided recruiters with the opportunity to network with other local businesses.

Jobs Fair was officially opened by Torbay’s Elected Mayor Gordon Oliver and delivered by TDA, Torbay Council and in partnership with Jobcentre Plus.
